  • The FlyCapture® Software Development Kit (SDK) provides a common software interface to control and acquire images for FLIR area scan USB 3.1, GigE, FireWire, and USB 2.0 cameras using the same API under 32- or 64-bit Windows or Linux.
The Firewire interface is not used by any modern camera systems, so we recommend using an older Windows 7 PC with a built-in Firewire port. Windows 8 and later versions are not recommended. Adapter cards, particularly those for laptops, are unreliable and cannot be supported.
Step 1: Install Legacy IEEE Driver:
In most cases the vendor's IEEE controller driver will not work and will result in the live image freezing. To avoid this problem you can install the legacy driver for the IEEE controller:
1. Open Device Manager from the Windows Control Panel.
2. Expand the 'IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers' node in the device list.
3. Right-click on the 1394 host controller and select 'Update Driver Software ..'.
4. Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'.
5. Select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.'
6. Check the box next to 'Show compatible hardware'.
7. Choose the second option, '1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)', and click next to update the driver.

Step 3: Install Desktop Software:
You can download the free FLIR Tools software from here. This should be able to connect to the camera so you can acquire JPEGs. Tools+ can be used to record sequences to disk.
ResearchIR software can also connect to some Firewire cameras for image acquisition.
Wireless

If the host controller is the Point Grey Bus Host Controller, your driver is the Point Grey FirePRO driver, and is not 1394 OHCI Compliant. Update the driver as instructed in Step 2 below. To update the driver: Right-click the host controller and select Update driver software. Click Browse my computer for driver software. Click Let me pick from.

Image Acquisition Toolbox™ supports digital cameras that follow the IIDC 1394-based digital camera specification (DCAM) developed by the 1394 Trade Association. Drivers fujitsu usb devices. The IIDC 1394-based DCAM specification describes a generic interface for exchanging data with IEEE 1394 (FireWire) digital cameras.

Manufacturers

Many manufacturers provide DCAM cameras that are compatible with Image Acquisition Toolbox, including those in the list below. If available, use the vendor-specific support package over the vision standard in order to access proprietary camera properties and functionality such as data logging and triggering. Testing Your Device for Compatibility

Flir 1394 Driver

To test your FireWire camera for compatibility with the toolbox on Windows, download the CMU 1394 digital camera driver from the CMU web site and run their demo application (1394CameraDemo.exe). If you can operate your FireWire camera using the CMU demo application, the device will work with Image Acquisition Toolbox.

To test your FireWire camera for compatibility with the toolbox on Linux, use Coriander.

Alternatively, if the data sheet or product manual for your camera states that it is IIDC DCAM v1.3x compliant, it should work with the toolbox.

Platform and Release Support

Download Firewire 1394 Driver

On Windows®, the toolbox supports DCAM devices using the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) DCAM driver version 6.4.x or later. The CMU driver strictly adheres to version 1.31 of the IIDC 1394-based DCAM specification. On Linux®, the toolbox supports DCAM devices using the libdc1394 package version 2.0 or later. On Mac OS X, no separate driver installation is needed.
